Getting to Team Valley by public transport




It’s easy to get to Team Valley using public transport – buses provide direct links between Team Valley and Gateshead, Newcastle, Metrocentre, Sunderland and Washington and beyond. And it’s close to Metro and rail stations, making connections simple.
There are 34 buses serve Team Valley every hour, all are operated by Go North East. The key bus service on Team Valley is Go North East’s 93/94, The Loop. Each service leaves Gateshead Interchange every 15 minutes, and they connect Team Valley with Gateshead College, Saltmeadows Road, Gateshead Stadium, Heworth, Felling Square, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Low Fell and Bensham Road.
And as well as bus services on Team Valley itself, other services stop near Maingate at the north end and Sainsbury’s at the south end. You can change there for the frequent Loop services or simply walk further into Team Valley.
There are changes to some bus services on Team Valley from 29 January 2012:
- 90 – a new Metrocentre to Team Valley service
- 91 – is extended across Newcastle City Centre to Pilgrim Street
- 92 – is extended to Wardley, Ellen Wilkinson Estate
- 930 - additional journeys and the service number changes to service 90
- 939 - extra journeys from Concord and all journeys operated by Go North East
- No changes to The Loop 93/94 and 937

Which train station is closest to Team Valley?
Newcastle Central station is the closest train station to Team Valley. You can connect to service 91 to Team Valley at peak times, or a Metro to Gateshead Interchange there.

Alternatively, service 90 runs every 30 minutes at peak times (from 29 January) between Team Valley and the Metrocentre’s railway station.

A PLUSBUS ticket for Newcastle and Gateshead is valid on all buses to/from Team Valley, as well as most other bus services in the urban area of Newcastle and Gateshead. PLUS BUS season tickets are also available, ideal for regular rail commuters from outside Tyne & Wear. PLUS BUS day tickets are just £2.60, perfect for business visitors, and cheaper than a taxi.
