How can Employers Support Public Transport?
Using this website employees of your company can find out about getting to work by public transport. Timetables for services operating to and from Team Valley can be found at Nexus or Go North East.
As an employer, you can do a number of things to promote public transport use:
- Employers can make bulk purchase discounts on public transport season tickets, and pass these on to their employees. For details download this document.- the Travel Guide to Tyne and Wear Public Transport Corporate Discount Guide.
- Many employers run schemes providing discounted public transport season tickets to staff, which can be provided in partnership with Nexus and Go North East. If you would like more information on providing discounts, you can contact the Travel Plan Co-ordinator to have some information sent to you.
- You could also help your employees to purchase season tickets by providing an interest free season ticket loan.
- Displaying public transport timetables on a notice board in a staff room or other public area can encourage staff to consider travelling by bus. Staff can also download copies of their timetables.
- You could provide incentives for staff travelling by public transport. For instance, entry to a prize draw could be gained by providing a bus or metro ticket. For more information on incentive ideas, you can contact the Travel Plan Co-ordinator.
- You could work with bus companies and neighbours to secure improvements to the bus services and facilities.
