Support Flexible Working
Alternative working practices refer to methods of working which differ from the traditional "9 to 5" working day. Many companies use a form of flexible working, most commonly allowing flexible start and finish times to allow staff to avoid rush-hour traffic.
Forms of alternative working practice include:
- Teleworking - employees working from home or other offices to reduce the number travelling to work;
- Flexi-time - employees are required to work certain core hours, but have flexibility over work start and finish times;
- Compressed Working - employee’s work full-time hours, but over fewer days. For instance, a worker might complete a full working week in 4 days allowing an extra day per week off work. This could be on an ad hoc basis or as a permanent arrangement.
