Kavli
Kavli is part of the Kavli Group, which also has commercial operations in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. It is different to most other businesses because it is owned by the Kavli Trust, a charitable organisation, which uses profits from the commercial operations to support a variety of good causes both locally and worldwide, including research, cultural activities and humanitarian work.
Our Gateshead site is the UK base for the manufacture of Primula Cheese. The brand was first sold in the UK in 1929 and it soon became established as a popular favourite and volumes grew. Our first UK factory was opened in 1936 in Cramlington, but in 1961 Kavli moved into a purpose built site on the new Team Valley Trading Estate. Over the years the site has been expanded and modernised creating a facility that is approved to the stringent quality standards of our supermarket customers.
